Privacy Policy

Overview

Reiki Nook is a guided Reiki practice timer and school community app. We respect your privacy and collect only the information needed to provide the service. We will never sell your data, show advertisements, or use advertising networks or marketing analytics.

Information we collect

• Account information — Your email address and name (optional) when you create an account. Your password is stored securely using one-way hashing and is never visible to us.
• Practice sessions — Session duration, date, settings, and any personal notes or reflections you choose to add.
• Community content — Posts, comments, and reactions you share within your school's community space.
• Photos — Profile photos and images attached to posts or comments, uploaded voluntarily.
• On-device storage — The app stores your authentication credentials securely in your device's keychain and caches your practice history locally on your device.

How we use your information

• To authenticate your account and provide access to your school's community
• To display your practice history and session statistics
• To show your posts and comments to other members of your school
• To send transactional emails (password resets, invitations)

Data storage and security

Your data is stored on servers in the United States via Render. Uploaded images are stored on Cloudflare R2. All connections use HTTPS encryption. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text.

Third-party services

We use a limited number of third-party services to operate the app:

• Render — Application and database hosting
• Cloudflare — Image storage and content delivery
• Resend — Transactional email delivery (password resets, invitations)
• Sentry — Error and crash monitoring to help us identify and fix bugs. May receive technical error details such as device type and app version. No personal information is sent to Sentry.

We do not use advertising networks, marketing analytics, or any form of user tracking.

Data sharing

We will never sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Your community posts are visible only to members of your school. We may disclose information if required by law, such as in response to a valid subpoena or court order.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account from within the app, or by contacting us at the email address below. When your account is deleted, your personal data is removed within 30 days. Administrative audit logs may be retained for operational purposes.

California privacy rights

We will never sell your personal information. California residents may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). To exercise your rights, contact us at the email address below.

International users and GDPR

Your data is processed and stored in the United States. By using Reiki Nook, you consent to the transfer of your data to the US.

We process your data based on your consent (when you create an account) and our legitimate interest in providing the service. If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or other regions with data protection laws, you have the right to:

• Access — Request a copy of your personal data
• Correction — Update or correct inaccurate information
• Deletion — Request deletion of your account and data
• Portability — Request your data in a machine-readable format
• Objection — Object to the processing of your data

Security incidents

In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.

Children's privacy

Reiki Nook is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
